Social Media Evolution (Steemit Platform)
Steemit (STEEM) https://steemit.com/ (Social Media 3.0)
Social Media 1.0 - I'll spare you the gory details of the last 15 or so years of the Social Media Evolution but in 2002, a social media site called Friendster http://www.friendster.com/ was founded. Friendster is considered the "Grand Daddy" of all Social Media sites. Friendster allowed users to contact other members, maintain those contacts, and share online content and media with those contacts. By 2011, Friendster waved the white flag to Facebook and re-launched as a social gaming platform in June 2011. Friendster died a slow death and finally succumbed and went dormant in June 2015.
Social Media 2.0 - In June 2004, Myspace http://www.myspace.com was founded and took off. From 2005 to 2008, Myspace was the largest social networking site in the world, and in June 2006 surpassed Google as the most visited website in the United States.
Social Media 2.5 - But in February 2004, a new social media site called Facebook http://www.facebook.com/ was launched. By May 2009, Facebook was higher than Google in the number of unique worldwide visitors, and was surpassed in the number of unique U.S. visitors in May 2009. By June 2017, Facebook has grown to more than 2 billion monthly active users.
Social Media 3.0 - In July 2016, Steemit (STEEM) launched their website. Steemit is a social media site with virtual currency rewards that runs over the Steem blockchain. Using a blockchain enables rewarding comments and posts with secure tokens of value to users. Images can be uploaded and hosted on Steemit. Folks, this is the new Social Media 3.0. People getting paid and bringing their value and worth to Social Media, not a bunch of fake news and bs posts that are meaningless!
