Taxpayers use Facebook-WhatsApp in Uganda

Online Desk. The parliament of Uganda has passed a controversial law to impose tax on citizens in the use of social media.

From now on, Facebook, WhatsApp, Vibo and Twitter will pay tax every 200 cents ($ 0.05) per day for Ugandan citizens.

It is known that this type of law has been passed by the decision of the country's President Yurey Moussweni to stop spending time through social networking.

Although the law will be enforced from July 1, it is yet to be confirmed how it will be done.

Many are skeptical about whether the use of social media is possible to recover taxes.

However, there is no restriction on the use of internet in the education sector, Muezzeni said.

It is worth mentioning that 23.6 million people of the country's population use mobile phones. Of which 17 million people are connected to the Internet. However, the government wants to make every mobile phone SIM Card properly under registration.
