Messenger? Here are 10 hidden functions

More than 1.3 billion people use the Facebook messaging application monthly. Since Messenger has become a separate app, Facebook has added a number of additional features to it.

The Facebook Messaging application has a number of less known features, from adding GIFs to adding games or using the messaging feature in an encrypted way. Mashable presents a list of 10 of the less known Messenger features.

1. Messenger can also be used on the desktop

If you want to send messages to your friends without being distracted by the new posts on Facebook, the application can be installed on its own. To get it, you must go to Messenger.com and sign up with your Facebook account. You can also access a conversation directly on the site by typing Messenger.com/ your friend's username. The Messenger desktop version is the same as the mobile application, but the Facebook search bar is missing at the top of the screen.

1. You can request or send money

In the past few years, Facebook has implemented a feature that allows you to send or receive the first money. To use the feature, you must add the credit card by going to Profile> Payments> Add a new card. To send or ask for money enter a chat box with one of your friends, tap the plus sign at the bottom left of the screen, select Payouts and add the amount you want.

1. Add instant friends through your profile code

If you want to be a Facebook friend with an instant person, they can scan the unique code of your profile. To access it, click on your profile icon at the top left of the screen, then click on the enlarged image of your profile in the center of the screen. Click My Code to make it visible, or Scan Code to scan a person's code.

1. You can play games

Facebook proposes a series of games, from Words with Frends to 2048, or classics such as Pacman and Snake, all available in the Messenger app. To challenge a friend or group of friends, start a conversation with them, click the plus sign, and select Games. If you want to practice alone you can start a conversation with yourself and follow the same steps.

1. You can talk with robots

Facebook robots can help you get the latest news, place orders, or play games. Click Discover on the top right of the screen to start a conversation with a robot.

1. Secret conversations

You can make encrypted conversations that no one else can read. The application uses full message encryption similar to Whatsapp. To use the feature, start a conversation, press the Secret button in the upper right corner of the screen and select the friend you want to talk to. For your message to disappear after a certain amount of time, click on the clock icon to the left of the message box.

1. Personalize your conversations

Facebook has a number of features that can be customized to personalize conversations. Opens a conversation group and clicks its name for customization options. You can change the color of the group, give your friends nicknames or you can set an emoji to replace the send button.

1. Share news, recipes, restaurants, flights and more

With the Kayak extension, you can share information about flights or hotels with your friends. Also, from the Food Network extension, you can distribute recipes, restaurants through the Open Table extension, and news via the Wall Street Journal. To get extensions, click the plus button in the bottom left corner of a conversation box.

1. Artistic conversations

The Scribble Chat extension converts messages into 3D animations. There are currently 42 animation options. To use the function starts a conversation and presses the plus sign at the bottom left corner then selects ScribbleChat.

1. Send audio messages

Sending audio messages is a simpler conversation. To start recording, open a conversation and keep the microphone icon to the left of the conversation box. Then take your finger off the microphone for the recording to be instantly sent.
