TIPS ON HOW YOUR FACEBOOK DATA IS SAFELY SHARED

The Facebook data sharing scandal has made it Paramount to be careful about how your data is shared. Here are 5 tips to ensure that you know who is having acces to your info.

  1. Remove third party apps connected to your Facebook.
Click through to App Settings , or navigate to Settings > Apps. On a smartphone, go to the hamburger menu ( ) > Settings > Account Settings > Apps. Click "remove" for each app you do not need. These apps collect too much data about you like age, whereabouts, and friends and you need to limit them.
  2. Nix Logged-In Apps
On the App Setting page, under Logged in with Facebook, click "Show All " and you will see all the apps and games you have connected to your Facebook. The number will shock you. Hover your cursor over each one you want to nix; click the X to remove it. If you want to use the app/game/site later with your Facebook credentials, you will have to log in again.
  3. Edit Logged-In Apps
You also have the choice to change the settings for each app you've logged into with Facebook; for example, changing it from sharing publicly to sharing only with friends, or showing only to yourself. Hover the cursor over each app and click the pencil icon labeled Edit Settings .
  4. Kill and Edit Apps on Mobile
On a smartphone, while you're still on Apps, click Logged In with Facebook, and you'll get the same list; it is split to show apps that are sharing with the public and sharing with friends. Click each one to change how it shares, or scroll to the bottom to remove it.
  5. Disable Facebook from sharing.
You can go a bit extreme and prevent Facebook from doing much sharing at all. On the desktop, scroll down to the box that says Apps, Websites, and Plugins . Click the Edit button. A pop-up will appear. Click the Disable Platform button and Facebook will no longer connect to any third-party sites with your Facebook data. On the downside, you won't be able to log into websites or games using Facebook (including sites that use Facebook for commenting), share with friends between apps, or do any kind of instant personalization. And you'll get kicked out of any apps you've logged into using Facebook.
    BONUS. Give up Facebook!
Alternatively, you can delete your account and embark on a journey to make yourself invisible online. Facebook cant share what facebook cant see 😉
