A group of health experts based on the Facebook social networking site has been pushing a pull-out application for children under the age of 13.

The group, which has more than 100 experts, sent an open letter to Facebook President Mark Zuckerberg describing the application as an "irresponsible" attempt to encourage children to use the site.

The experts believed that children are not ready to have accounts on Facebook.

The website says the application was designed by e-safety experts, in response to parents' calls for more restrictions on children's use of social networking sites.

The design is a simplified version of the application of messages on Facebook, and requires the use of parental consent, and does not exploit the data for the purpose of advertising.

"The application of children's messages will probably be the first social communication platform used by primary school children, between 4 and 11 years, on a large scale," says the open letter.

"But many studies have shown that excessive use of electronic devices and social networking sites is detrimental to children and adolescents, making it very likely that the application impedes the healthy growth of children," the letter adds.

"Children are simply not ready to have social networking accounts, and are not of a lifetime to enter virtual relationships on the Internet, often leading to conflicts and conflicts among adult users."

"Since we launched the application in December, we have been told by parents across the country that it has helped them communicate with their children continuously and allowed children to communicate with their relatives, whether close or distant from them," Facebook said.

"Examples of this communication include stories about parents working at night, being able to read stories to their children before bedtime, and mothers traveling to work to get information about their children while traveling."

"Talking to distant parents does not require the application of children's messages. They can use their parents' pages, Skype, and other accounts to communicate, and they can simply use the phone," she says. .

The letter refers to a number of research and studies linking social networking sites and increasing tension and anxiety among adolescents.

The message says that a teenager who spends an hour talking through social networking sites feels a lack of all areas of his life, and that those aged 13-14 years "spend between 6 and 9 hours on social networking sites weekly by 47 percent Happiness compared to those who spend less hours. "

The study also suggests that excessive use of social networking sites makes girls 10 to 12 years more prone to thinning, worrying about their bodies and following diets.

These are statistics from other studies

  • 78 percent of teens check their phones every hour

  • 50 percent say they are addicted to their phones

  • Half of parents say that setting computer hours is a daily battle with children
