Here is a website that actually creates the AI portraits of a selfie. The images uploaded will be recreated as a historic portrait model using the AI algorithm loaded on the website. The algorithm is trained with over 45,000 classic portraits that are prominent and predominant. Here is an example of the portrait that is created from a simple selfie.

The website uses a generative adversarial network (GAN), which is a technology used to generate sketches to photorealistic images, fake human faces, and also can be used to create fake CT and MRI scans. A portrait generated with GAN was sold for $432,500 at an auction last year. The style of the image created will depend on the various elements of the image uploaded.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to bring in huge cheese smiles in the portraits as the algorithms have been trained with portraits that do not have huge smiles as its rare in historic images.
