Powerdown Statistics #11 - May 6th - May 19th

Every two weeks or so I like to compare the current power down statistics and see how we stand.

Here they are:

6 May 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER198,1 million
LIQUID STEEM110,6 million
SBD9 million

Virtual Supply ≈ 335,153,347 STEEM

19 May 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER198,8 million (+0.7 million)
LIQUID STEEM111,6 (+1 million)
SBD8,9 million (-0,1 million)

Virtual Supply ≈ 335,463,016 STEEM

The conversion from SBD to STEEM has continued from last time but it's less than in the previous report. A little over 100k (300k last time) has been converted to STEEM in the last 2 weeks.

The virtual supply is stable. If all SBD would be converted to STEEM right now we would have the same amount of STEEM as last time. Roughly 335 million total supply of STEEM.

What is very good is the fact that more STEEM has been powered up. I consider this a very good sign. This is a continuation of the trend we saw in the last report. Before that, we saw a big power downtrend for months.

I'm pretty happy with these numbers in general.

I would like to see a small uptick in STEEM price that would take most pressure from SBD conversion away but until that happens we have to deal with it a little while longer.

Looking at @penguinpablo's charts, it seems the major power downs have all finished after their 13 weeks. As long as conversions don't get too high and as long as no new major power downs start, we should start to see the supply of new liquid Steem become constrained.

We are now back to the level of power downs we had before Steemfest.

Great, thanks for the update. Looking promising. Why is steem price languishing still while BTC and other alts are climbing?

Probably because there's still a lack of awareness about all the good things happening with Steem. I see that as a positive, it gives me more time to accumulate at these prices. The only time I want the price high is when I want to sell.

I think part of the problem is lack of volume.

I wonder how much of the liquid steem and SBD are actually unclaimed rewards and how much steem is stuck in lost wallets

I once created an account for someone and failed to copy the key, so there's at least 6 steem locked up lol.

Lol the more locked up steem the better 😝that account will be a hodl’er for life

I don't think that much. Most big accounts are accounted for.

SBD convert to steem is positive sign and already powered up by the user. Beside that some crypto also exchange with steem as well as fiat money. So the picture in future is very bright and steem will concrete in a single position after the revolution!

Does the conversion only take into account when SBD is under $1 and people use the conversion tool or does it also take into account when it is over $1 and they just outright trade it for STEEM or SP? Just curious.
