Adjusting to new Steem. I'm changing my posting and voting habits + HF22.
For the last 121 weeks, I showed up every day creating content for Steem.
I did not skip a day.
I'm currently buying back all that effort for 'pennies' on a daily basis.
It's an interesting experience I can tell you that. I feel very fortunate.
As you probably know my vision for Steem and what I believe it will become is rock solid.
Steem is going to become the biggest social-economic ecosystem in the blockchain space and STEEM will drive it with RC's and SMT's/SE and Communities will grow it.
I also know how much effort goes into earning STEEM. I have been doing it for 3,5 years.
Knowing that. It's such an easy buy for me.
This is what a 100 euro buys you today.
To earn that as a content creator your post needs to make $220 ($110 author / $110 curators).
Currently, not even the biggest upvoted post with bid bots can earn that and with the downvote feature introduced I doubt anyone will anytime soon unless the price of STEEM goes up (but then you won't make the amount of STEEM).
I've been thinking a lot where I want to take my blog from here.
Seeing new Steem working is opening my eyes to new possibilities.
This morning I saw that I made this in curation rewards overnight
I don't remember waking up to such curation rewards. I'm happy to see that curating content is worth it now.
The Trending page looks different too.
Not that I believe that the trending page and the price of STEEM have any correlation but hopefully it will look a little better for newcomers and I'm also hoping that a multiple of different content creators will trend.
And anyone that blamed bit bots before for not making anything can now no longer use that argument. Although I'm sure they will find new ones.
Me? I've always been a creature of habit. Doing the same thing every day probably has my name written all over it. The linear reward curve was perfectly suited to me.
Show up every day. Learn about new Steem developments, make a post about it, buy fucktons of STEEM, grow together with people that have similar SP that you know won't sell out, and in the evening make another post about something more light.
Funnily enough, when you do this for long enough you turn from a Steemian that wants to grow their account and putting their complete time and money making that become reality to someone that 'circle jerks' just because you have hit the ceiling where there are no more bloggers that want to grow above you.
From growing my account from zero and never powering down once it's also been an interesting experience to see that unfold to and how it is perceived by others.
Anyway. What it comes down too is that I no longer need that process.
Not with 50/50 and a new curve. It's like a chore now and not something that makes me excited.
Plus it now also makes me feel trapped.
It only took me 2 days into new Steem to see it!
I need to breakout. And that's what I am going to do.
I'm going to join the dynamics of #newsteem and have the most fun I can have!
Something I always recommended to you and now myself once more.
In other words, I'm changing my posting habits and I'm changing my voting habits from today.
I'm going to have fun again and do what I love and besides that, I'll just buy whatever STEEM I need till this ********* turns around.
I want to have enough STEEM for when the turnaround comes to enjoy whatever may come.
People that follow my blog already know my ultimate endgame for my STEEM holdings.
But before that happens.
I love researching and thinking about STEEM. I love making my vlogs, always have. I'm sure keeping those.
Sometimes I will make 3-4 posts a day sometimes I'll just want to curate. I want that freedom. I'm taking it.
I'm also invested in other tribes, curating there. Having to keep track of my Splinterlands investments and trades on Steem-Engine.
I'm looking forward to it.
Having said that. There is one more thing.
We have to deal with an unexpected Hard Fork today.
The witness I am part of @blockbrothers is already running it.
For all the complainers, bugs happen. They just do.
My dad's been a programmer his whole life and is still running a successful business with +12 employees at 69 doing the exact same thing he loves.
The software he's been working on for over 20 years still has bugs from time to time. Sometimes these bugs are 10 years old.
When I told him the other day what happened to Steem he fully understood what happened. You can't simply foresee everything even with testing and it's even worse on a live blockchain.
We deal with it and we move on.
For me? It's the way it's been dealt with that impressed me the most and makes my faith in this blockchain strong.
When the shit hits the fan people get together and get it done.
There are too many parties involved now wanting to make this work.
Not just on a technical level also on a communication level. A lot of people chip in.
Can't handle the shit? Come back in 3 years. It will be perfect then.
Every blockchain is going through the biggest test of their lives right now.
Can you scale? Can you still develop with lower prices? Do you have a community? Do you have a use case? are you still innovating?
check, check, check, check and check on all fronts for Steem.
Steem is still being developed heavily even after it's been stomped on over and over again. It always gets up.
Steem is the honeybadger of crypto.
Hurray to new Steem.

@exyle can you tell me how the new reward curve affects my $0.14 upvote? I am wondering if it is better to pool my resources with other users verse trying to upvote on my own.
Thanks.
That really depends on how much engagements your post make. Or in other words how many SP upvotes you get besides your own.
I'm still experimenting with the curve myself.
On https://steemworld.org/ you can get a report showing you the amount of author and curation rewards you receive and how effective you are. I hope that helps with your own question.
Thanks for the response. I was more interested in just curation rewards understanding curation rewards from upvoting others. Has anyone posted a simple explanation of reward curve and the dollar amounts to target for maximum effect?
Steemworld is an awesome resource.
It's very tricky now. If your post earns less than 20 Steem, you will get less than before. I know it's insane. At the same time if you use bitbots to get to that 20 Steem, you might get flagged for 'bidbot abuse'. Must be nice to be a whale and not have these problems.
This post just earned you my witness vote. I'll be making my #newsteem post soon. Thank you.
Thank you!
I am nowhere near you in terms of SP but finally curation is fun. Speaking of curation...Just because my free time lately is very limited, I may skip a day or two of posting (something that never happened before during my 20 month journey).
So I got to tell you, that I earn more as a curator. I can only imagine how it feels like to curate for people with serious amounts of SP such as yourself.
Newsteem is great and can't wait for it to be even greater.
Have a great one!
Thanks, man! New Steem is growing on me too.
I'm skipping posting as well but that is partly because I just don't have the energy for it at the moment. I really enjoy writing so I still like to focus on that. I have always commented on people's posts as much as I can, but as for intentionally voting on posts that will earn me Rewards... im still not sure about that. Kinda feeling i need to support the littler guys.. amd im kinda little myself lol!

Freeedom, yep! It is hard to find good stuff though, then again only need 10 good posts a day to vote on.
Wish you the best - exyle top of steemit trending sometime in 2019 -2020 :)
Freedom will be nice indeed!
What most people forget about content is that it's not just about content it's also about the people behind the content. It's the combo that matters to me.
But it's an endless discussion that will never have one answer that suits all.
I will still blog and have fun but under newsteem rules :)
yep. what gives value to me is usually what i vote on. (i think i do, anyway lol)
YES! WHAT GIVES VALUE TO YOU!!...simple and PERFECT way to curate.

I really admire your enthusiasm regarding Steem and Steemit @exyle. Attitudes like yours will keep people from making a huge mistake and giving up too soon.
I feel that those who've been frustrated by the past few years of this platform in general only need to remember how early we are in the development of cryptocurrency and blockchain as a whole.
It's all been an experiment up until now but real world use-cases will determine the winners and losers during this next phase of growth. Steemit is lucky enough to have three years of experience with this already and this is a TREMENDOUS advantage over the competition. No one knows the future but we can make educated guesses. I think we're heading in a really good direction and if we learn from our past mistakes our odds will be better than average.
Thanks, Eric! It sure has been a wild ride so far, hasn't it! I had to adjust several times on my own journey so this is nothing new.
Everything we do is early days and new. This goes for every crypto.
Well said!
Thank you, man. All things considered, it's been an amazing ride so far. It's changed my life more than anything else...by a long shot. Enjoy your beer!
totally understand that trapped feeling that's why i've completely shifted my social habits around for at least the next four weeks while i work on courses and things that i enjoy and that are fun. can't stop posting each day thou, i love engaging on chain too much! :)
I doubt I will be either but I will do it with a feeling of more freedom
freedom is worth paying for, for sure ;)
I love that .. 'can't handle the shit come back in three years' .. that needs to be a slogan to hand out to whiners.
100%
✔✔✔✔ -- Always appreciate your level headed views Mark. Hopefully i will see you around the blockchain having lots of fun. Go Steem Go!!
Haha, you can bet on that!
It is indeed all about fun! Without fun I wouldn't be here!
Indeed the curation rewards are increasing and Trendings look different. But still I do expect that the same authors will be on Trending time after time.
Now as a next step. Get to the supermarket, buy some real beer (Belgian I mean) and celebrate the #newsteem!
Cheers,
Peter
