The very first Extreme Ironing World Championship was held in Germany in 2002. Versatility was the order of the day, as competitors were required to iron clothes made with different fabrics in five harsh environments: in a car, on a river at strong current, on top of a tree, on a rock face and in another location of your choice. Competitors were judged on their creativity and the absence of wrinkles in the clothes.
