Horse Back riding (A first timer)

Riding a horse has been one of the many things that i want to do on my bucket list of adventures, but with me doing my best to balance work and family, it was not easy.

During my previous job as a Project Development Officer in a government program, I had the opportunity to visit rural and urban communities and meet wonderful people who are beneficiaries of the program. Every month i visit their community or what we locally call here in the Philippines as "barangay" to conduct Family Development Sessions and do home visitations. Some barangays are located near the town proper and some are in the mountainous area. Although it was hard especially when its raining, i would rather climb the steep and muddy mountain than let the people come down from there, anyway, it was more of an adventure for me.

One of the community that i visited was located in the mountainous part and their houses are about 1-2 kilometers apart. For them it was not that far since they climb the mountain everyday to go to their farms but for me..well, i remember i enjoyed the scenery. :-)

When we were near the peak, we visited a home of a beneficiary who owns a horse and had the amazing idea on letting me ride on it. I was like, "OMG! Can i really ride this horse?!"

It was funny because i didn't know how to get on its back so they drag the horse near a mango tree where there was a wood seat that i could use as a step to get on its back. I was nervous that the horse might get scared and run but it didn't and so i successfully was able to ride on it, whew!

It was a wonderful experience to remember, although i might forget about it, but never the people whom i shared it with!
