Welcome to the fifteenth edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2017. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

EXPANSE REWARDS (EXR)

Introducing Expanse Rewards. Expanse Rewards EXR is a rebranding of EBS, the Expanse Bonds System, but it is also much more. We are changing EBS to EXR for several reasons: To start, with increasing regulation in Blockchain it is critical to define terms carefully. The Expanse Bonds system was always a reward system and had nothing to do with actual Bonds. It is a coupon that is awarded for agreeing to hold your own EXP tokens for six months. This coupon is part of a smart contract system that pays out an EXP reward from the Expanse Community Fund created at Genesis. So it has nothing to do with bonds or loans. The buyer always controlled their private keys and all funds. So this is the primary reason we are changing EBS to EXR—simply to have terms carefully defined so as not to cause any confusion with regulations. We also believe this is a much stronger brand than EBS, so it will be easier to market, and EXR will also be a token on the Expanse Blockchain.

As Expanse Rewards (EXR) will be migrated to a token rather than a coupon, it will be storable with the upcoming Ledger Hardware wallet integration, and all future wallets for Expanse that support Expanse based Tokens. Another advantage of changing EXR to a token rather than a coupon is that it will be easier to trade. So this will provide added security, and functionality, removing any concerns the old brand could have, and EXR, we believe, is a much stronger brand anyway. So not only will the clarification of terms, rebranding help protect the Expanse project. It will also be a better product to market and help grow Expanse itself, still rewarding the community, just with a better and safer brand. And by changing to a token, it will allow people to trade it easily and store it with the industry leading security of Ledger.

TOKENLAB UPDATE

Tokenlab development is on schedule and progressing well. In this update we will share the current status of the situation. As noted in the last Newsletter, there will first be a 20% discount Exclusive sale for EXP only, and then a 10% discount Presale, and then the main Token sale with no discount right before the launch. The countdown for the Exclusive sale will start later this month after the next Newsletter on the 15th. All of the sales will be priced in USD/Tether because of the volatility in cryptocurrency at this time so that the discounts will be fair to early buyers. As for the EXP-only Exclusive sale, all those funds will be locked into smart contracts and used over two years by all those helping Tokenlab and none of it will be dumped on the market harming the price of Expanse. The Presale will be used in part for legal costs, development, and marketing the main Tokenlab sale.

Additionally, the Tokenlab White Paper will be released by the next Newsletter giving all the specific details on Tokenlab. Only Expanse will be accepted for the initial sale with a 20% discount, so if you want the highest discount make sure to have some Expanse to reserve your LAB Tokens well in advance with the greatest possible discount. As the White Paper will be released before the exclusive sale starts everyone will have a chance to fully review the White Paper in advance and all details will be shared at that time. MOBILE WALLET

The Expanse mobile wallet is under development now, and above are some screenshots showing progress. This will initially be an Android wallet designed for Expanse. In the future it will be expanded to also work with EXR, and other Expanse Blockchain Tokens, and be integrated with the Gander explorer system.
