Episode 1: The existence of God.

in #existence7 years ago (edited)

We begin by discussing our theory on the existence of God.
The topic is a little controversial, and kicks off some great debates, but we believe that we may have cracked part of the mystery, here is our theory:

When someone says the word 'God', you most likely think of the old guy in the sky, or that guy with the beard who controls everything, punishing the sinners, and granting miracles etc. Either way, you probably think of how he's commonly perceived in religious books and scriptures (E.g. Bible, Quran etc).

Our theory is a little different... you have to separate this idea of 'God' as a being, and see it as a descriptive word, not a noun. Look at it as a word that describes the action of mother nature, the basic principal that everything just exists. When you move the word 'God' from a noun to a descriptive, it really starts to make a lot of sense, thus proving it's existence. After all, 'God' is nothing but a word describing that everything happens.

The reason the religious version of 'God' seems so far fetched, is because it's been taken literally, which has ended up an unrealistic, personified version of an idea that seems highly unlikely, be it scientifically, factually, or logically. But 'God' as descriptive word for the reality that is life, seems to make sense...

You can't deny the existence of an idea right..?

So next time someone says 'it was an act of God', the chance of this being true depends on how they look at it, and If it's used in the way that we have described it here, it works.

In a nutshell: The background hum and science of life, is 'God', as a happening, nothing more than the descriptive notion of our existence. Basically, anything and everything that happens is 'God', but not as a sentient being, it's just the universe doing its thing.

Well, there you go, we hope to have got some thoughts flowing, and look forward to your spin on this theory.

"it's just the universe doing its thing."

I think this is a great way to describe what is most commonly refered to as 'God.'

I have always found it a shame that we humans try so hard to paint God as this kind of almighty spotless deity (Omnipotent, benevolent etc) that is out of reach and can only be viewed in heaven.
The reality I find is much more beautiful and awe-inspiring (and not to mention much easier for our little chimp brains to comprehend.)
We should try to be content with what we can understand i.e the beauty of nature, one would hope that this might also encourage us to take better care of the one planet we have instead of destroying parts of it 'in the name of god.'

And hey if this doesn't satisfy you and you wish to try to push your brain to it's limits and gain a deeper understanding of God, don't read scripture....take psychedelics

I promise you will get much closer to God that way, maybe closer than you intended.
