ExchangeCoin Security Upgrades
Dear everybody
We informed our users a few days ago that we are working to implement major changes in the architecture of our services. These changes will enable us to run a new cryptocurrency exchanger. These procedures are also aimed at making our platform and services safe and secure.
During the process, we discovered a vulnerability in the security (we have since resolved the issue). Unfortunately, we discovered that due to this glitch, a user withdrew some amount of EXCC coins that were not his coins. Upon discovery of this illegal act, we immediately stopped all network traffic. All other exchanges have been informed about this development, and they have temporarily disabled new withdrawals and deposits on their platforms (we are especially thankful for the quick response from CoinExchange to our distress call). Fortunately, this unauthorised withdrawal was made only a few days ago, so it is possible to make reverse those changes.
In a bid to remove all unauthorised changes, we decided to do hard fork and reverse all transaction statuses back to
The 54538 block on March 31, 2018.
What does it mean?
- All the EXCC transactions that were issued after the block 54538 have been canceled.
- All the transactions done with the CryptoXchanger Web Wallet after March 31st have been reversed and account balances have been restored.
How do these changes affect you?
- If you use the Web or Copay Wallet, you do not have to take any action as your wallet will synchronize with the valid blockchain
- If you use the Java Wallet and you have your nodes, you must update the software from our site immediately.
The best way to update your Java Wallet (on Windows, MacOS or Linux) is to remove two directories called “blocks” and “chainstate”, and the run your wallet again. It will take some time to synchronise it. Also make sure to always backup your wallet.dat before doing any operations. If you do not feel comfortable doing that just drop us a ticket, we will be more than happy to help you with that process.
In addition, we have requested that all exchanges update their wallets; this will enable the new EXCC deposits and withdrawal without delay. You have our full cooperation to ensure that no one experiences any losses due to this situation.
We wish to offer our sincere apologies for the inconvenience these changes may cause you. Our development team has started implementing the advanced security solutions. In particular, we will include the first POA layer which will be the first action before the introduction of the full POW+POS hybrid.
If you experience any issues with your EXCC coins, please use the support ticket on our site, please provide as much information as possible about the transaction such as date, amount, and the TX ID.
Thank you for your understanding. We believe this situation has only made us stronger as we have increased our efforts to hasten the changes aimed at improving the protection of coins and the implementation of hybrid solutions.
Best Regards
CX Team
@exchangecoin, welcome and congratulations on making your first post! I gave you a $.02 vote! If you would be so kind to give me a follow in return that would be awesome!
Why and how long will trading be halted on Coinexchange???
Unfortunately, the exchange responds to issues on a 2-week basis, this makes it difficult for our team to offer assistance in managing all the deposits that were affected by the incidence. Once again we want to apologize for the confusion and inconvenience. We assure you that nobody, apart from the ‘thief,’ experienced any losses.
on coinexchange I bought 1000excc, now Status: INACTIVE who will refund me for tokens
