RE: We Will Not Co-Exist With The Future's Dominant Lifeform
You are totally wrong, starting with the Neanderthal men.
They weren't exterminated, they interbred with the more recent immigrants from Africa. Europeans have about 8% Neanderthal DNA (and some researchers assume that they weren't actually another species, but just another ethnicity). However our African ancestors were more numerous and so we inherited more skeletal traits from them than from the Neanderthals.
Second there is no proof whatsoever that AIs can actually acquire sentience. They are capable of learning, but not capable of independent desire or fear. If they ever would try to exterminate humanity this would be a factor of their programming. It would be the supremacist humans behind these programs whose desire it would be to conquer and possibly exterminate humanity.
Your point is that we as humans need to augment ourselves with either technology or genetic enhancements to survive.
This warrants the question of what is the purpose of technology?
Isn't the purpose to make life easier for us?
However if any technology becomes a substantial threat to human life then it's a necessity that humanity will pull the plug.
Surely not "Totally" wrong! lol
You should actually read the post again - I did not say they were exterminated, I said it was most likely a combination of interbreeding plus a lil absolutely-for-certain-there-was.. conflict, with the natural competition for resources won by the more resourceful.
No proof that AI can acquire sentience? True, that's why they don't exist ... yet. lol .. but anyway, thanks for the feedback.
