The Great Pumpkin Plunge Event
Every year our city always hold an event for pumpkins that people are no longer using after Halloween has passed. Instead filling up the landfill with pumpkins, carved or uncarved, we have an event that is called as The Great Pumpkin Plunge
It is a fun event for the littles, to watch the pumpkins brought up high (with a person on a scissor lift) then being dropped to the ground, taking a plunge.
These smashed pumpkins are later gathered to be turned into compost. At this event, people could also bring in their yard waste which will also be turned into compost.
Beside taking used pumpkins to the event, people can also take in their pumpkins to a local farmer to be fed to their pigs. This is really smart actually as this farmer sold the pumpkins before Halloween, then would 'get' their pumpkins 'back' for their pigs 😂
Today was snowing, windy, and -16 C here, but it was nice to see families still came to the event.
After witnessing the pumpkin plunge, we could warm ourselves with hot cocoa and a mug of soup, as cheap as $2 per person. This is a fundraiser, for rides for the disabled.
