EU approved contraception app flop: 37 women inadvertently pregnant

In February 2017, Science.com wrote the news that a Swedish-developed prevention app could protect against pregnancy to the same extent as for example condoms and birth control pills.

The app 'Natural Cycles' could allegedly - without the use of hormones - measure the body's body temperature and based on this evaluate a high or low probability of pregnancy.

Depending on the woman's temperature, the app would either give red or green light to a small or high probability of pregnancy.

According to researchers, the method was 99 percent safe.

But now there is a hospital in Stockholm on behalf of 37 pregnant women, complaining about the app's lack of effect.

Whether the Natural Cycles app is banned is still unknown.
