ETH vs ETC, seriously? At the end of the day... The DAO hacker won...and we all know it.

in #ethereum8 years ago (edited)

Well we finally got some excited news about a successful ethereum hard fork, just to see Ethereum Classic $ETC be added to Poloniex.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this is the biggest temper tantrum throw in crypto, and if it is, I guess I'm the one throwing it.

But seriously? Cut the bullshit. Kill off $ETC, it's just hype.

What a fkn messs

It's about to snowball out of control, it'll become a big mess before it's all cleaned up again.

Completely agree. Mega bullshit.

Please elaborate. Why is this BS?

See below; plus: - not doing a hardfork would help a criminal who saw a possibility to take advantage of a lot of people. - a lot of btc core were against it because it would set a precedent while they should be implementing a hard fork asap and they are talking about a completely different project; eth is supposed to be used as "fuel" for the platform and not necessarily as something to hold value (eg 2% inflation in the end) - ethereum is in beta and problems which occur at that stage should be fixed not causing a project to turn to dust.

I see you are a HF supporter. That's fine.

But still it does not explain why you disrespect people who have a different opinion and want to stay with the unforked version of the chain. Let them do it.

Not saying they shouldn't be able to do it. Just saying that in my opinion it is not supportive of the environment. And saying that i disrespect people just because i say something is bs seems pretty disrespectfull to me.

@kimmar - you're right: calling something BS is indeed a clear way to express your respect.

Completely disagree. What kind of BS are you talking about?

If there are people who want ETC to exist why not let them have it? The hard-fork was supposed to be a voluntarily choice by the Ethereum community so why are you so determined to enforce this choice on everybody?

For me it's a manifestation of a totalitarian mindset. Majority enforcing its choice on minority and not even allowing the minority to choose its own path.

"United we stand, divided we fall"

The democratic majority approved the hardfork. The day that Ethereum completely fails due to division will be a sad one indeed.

But the minority is free to do whatever it wants, isn't it?
Or do you believe that keeping the old chain alive should be criminalized?

I think it's like a civil war in the cryptocommunity. I'm pulling out for a while.

I disagree. I sold my ether over the DAO hard fork might be a buyer of etc

Poloniex did also some other arguable decisions, I described here:
https://steemit.com/etherium/@rnevet/the-eth-harkfork-poloniex-etc-ethereum-classic-token-and-what-i-m-missing

TLDR for people loaning ETH they credited the ETC to the borrower.
