Bitter experience with ethereum

It happened last week. Decided to run ethereum full node or desktop wallet on my laptop. From ethereum.org downloaded software pack, containing ethereum wallet. Started the wallet and one box appeared, showing the ethereum blockchain is downloading and syncing with other nodes. After few seconds the box asked me to choose a password. I did so and the box advised me, in order to use the wallet , to put some ether in it, while still syncing with the network. I clicked to transfer some ether and second dialog box appeared. In this second box the proposition was to send some bitcoin to a bitcoin address and I will receive some ethereum in a certain ethereum address. I assumed the ethereum address in the dialog box is MY ethereum address. So I transferred 0.5 ETH to this addres straight. Then I clicked the first dialog box to see how is the syncing doing.
It wasn't at all. I was waiting and waiting, but nothing happened. After one hour I clicked back button in the box and was surprised with... choose your password! At that point I knew something is wrong.
Then I decided to download the latest ethereum wallet from GitHub. I did so, it started to synchronise and after few minutes went zombie. This time no passwords and no little ETH transfers.
Then I decided to get in touch with ethereum.org, wrote an email explaining my story and after one week I am still waiting :). Cann't understand a billion dollar nonprofit company to do such things!
