The blockchain is growing up and, as a result, is getting integrated into the existing financial system.

Thanks for sharing. I bet it will take a hit.
Who cares what the old school government people say, its brand new technology and new use cases with ico s they can shut up and study the new things before regulating and trying to destroy the crypto world, look at btc or eth the russians said its illlegal.... so what ? :D its working and its great who cares what the government think with their oldschool point of view. Now this year russia legalized btc and Puting met with Vitalik Buterin :D the world is changing fast
If you pay taxes on your gains then it has to be from a legal instrument. At least in the US where the SEC rules.
ok i understand but this is the rules, and also the fed has the only right to print money right ? so now what is bitcoin ? its created online by mining the blocks by a network, it was invented and the law and tax system dont know where to put it because they cant control it, can not track it, monitor it etc. I think crypto currency should be not regulated by the old law systems, its totally new thing and decentralization is not accepted by regulators which are all centralized systems. And taxation lol its impossible to keep track of microtransactions and evaluating its usd value on what to pay tax, which exchange rate? at what time ? where is the evidence of transactions ? for example dash is totally anonymous, the world has changed , i think government is making more harm to the economy then good, free market wil decide which currency is good, and this system is better then the old corrupt government ruled monetary system ( look what happened in venezuela, brazil, greece, cyprus governments are corrupt everywhere and will fail over time everywhere, people want freedom not controlling them ) . Its really interesting to see where will this end up, because if people will use crypto in everyday life the old money system could be destabilize once people realize how fucked up the whole system is with all the national debt and corruptions with oligarch and all that, crypto is good for the economy and for the people, state and money can operate separately now just like religion and state it is a paradigm shift invented by satoshi.
In what circumstances do they consider them securities? Thats where the loophole would be.
I looked up the term security on the internet under Business Dictionary and It doen't quite fit completely to the definition. I think they might legally have to re-write the law, but I may be wrong. Sometimes the powers that be, just edict it and declare it so.
It's actually not a blanket regulation, there will be avenues through it to still be successful.
Hopefully it wont be a minefield, but that's how it usually goes!
Thnaks for that. To me this seems like a major step forward in Ethereum and the ICOs chances of gaining mainstream adoption. It makes them "safer" for large investors to get involved (a bit more costly for some of the ICOs perhaps - but they certainly have the coin for it). More legitamacy is a good thing in the long run. I don't see how this can hurt the price myself.
