ETC question

I was checking my poloniex ballance and I notice I have some assets of ETC I do not remember ever buying

Question plain and simple if I sell my ETC will that affect my ETH balance? so is it like selling my ETH but half of it?
so I have to keep that side coin to have a hold of my full eth stack?
I don't want to lose my ethereum holdings but I can leave without the new coin that emerged from the fork.

what should I do? is it safe to sell them?

any links that elaborates that matter are highly appreciated.

    I couldn't wait to get an answer I just sold them the answer seems to be no. your eth stack is there it does not changes!If anyone else was wondering selling etc is safe for your eth.

    I think we need to fork more frequently :) free money rules.
