Is Crypto the New Stock?

     Is Digital currency the new stock? With the popularity of Cryptocurrencies on the rise, and possibly hitting its peak, I have begun to wonder: how has digital currency changed its objective since the beginning? Originally I was under the impression that digital currencies were sold and the value was a set number so as to be able to use a non-volatile currency and carry out transactions online. However-it has become more of an investment to many, which almost completely diminishes its potential to be used as a reliable currency. 

     

    I have absolutely no problem with the use of crypto as an investment, rather than a medium of value, but it is interesting to see how it will change the purpose, and to speculate future movements in the purpose it has established.
