In this context, an investor has to ask themselves if Bitshares is the risky play or if EOS is. The similarity between Bitshares and EOS is striking down to the developers and team members involved in the project. This might just be a starting point though, as they admittedly share much of the same technology and that over time, the code bases will diverge more and more.

However, it may very well be that Bitshares is actually the project/token in trouble as EOS becomes the 'pivot' project with newly dedicated resources.

Your assessment is entirely off base and trivial to prove wrong.

EOS uses chainbase, appbase, and incorporates wasm-git. It has entirely new type system, entirely new transaction structure, and entirely new block structure. It is even completely rewriting the P2P communication code.
