Informal fundraiser: Help me launch an Ethereum blockchain app (dApp)!
Hey Steemit family, I have a little dilemma. I am assisting my best friend with a little cryptocurrency project that would create a decentralized file and media sharing/streaming app (for desktop and mobile) and with a badass algorithm they designed themselves using Ethereum's network (think of this as sort of like IPFS). Their particular method has not been done before as far as we can tell and would add to the overall study of blockchain applications if it saw success.
This project is in the spirit of decentralization and sticking-it-to-the-man. It will ultimately save a lot of time and money (especially for people with data caps) for file sharers which is a huge deal. It will have some social media aspects to it too. It's also going to be highly secure as the information transfer is done on Ethereum- which should block any censorship or copyright trolls as well. I helped them come up with some of the ideas too. I was going to donate 3 ETH to this person, which is all they need for a full launch (the ETH is "fuel" which pays for using Ethereum's network power), while they're handling server costs themselves with their minimum wage job. Unfortunately I lost 2 of those ETH screwing up on a transfer and now I'm shit out of luck.
Now I am coming to you all, I am a super broke college student with a lot on my plate, and I made that ETH by sitting on a little bit of Doge for 2 years then realizing I had it again at a recent peak. I have 1.2 ETH but they needs 3 to handle the full launch and run tests prior. This is the only thing stopping them as the GUI and everything is mostly ready. They ran a very successful test of their algorithm as well. I'm coming to you all to ask a favor and that is if you could chip in a little bit to this project.
They don't need much, about 2 ETH on top of what I am contributing. I can't give a lot of details because my friend wants this under wraps, but I need help raising this bit so he can move forward. He's paying for about 2000 in server costs himself and I want to give him the ETH for the fuel.
If you'd like to donate, even like 2 pennies worth of ETH, you are really doing something for somebody who is working very hard and without many resources. This will contribute to the evolution of blockchain tech and internet accessibility if it pans out. Don't mind the lack of content on my site right now, I just got it running on June 15th and have to transfer a lot of content from a blog.
