They will add ERC20 tokens from Ethereum.

Coinbases logo was on new episode of Sillicon Valley Tv Show.

This is first ep of new series and we expect this season to be about cryptos actaully.

Interesting, what tokens do you think will do well from this? EOS and BAT are two tokens I'm most familiar with.

BAT looks almost sure :)

The token I know will be on there for sure will. E ZRX.

EOS won’t be an ERC20 token post June.

BAT is one to list for sure.

Here is my take on it.

Glad to see Coinbase making it easier for investors to buy more coins! However, there is likely still quite a long time before all of this comes into fruition.

I think COSS and Coinbase will become very similar soon with COSS adding fiat and Coinbase adding ERC20 coins.

It's exciting that most of our crypto journey is just beginning as new "stuff" is constantly happening in the crypto-sphere!

Yeah, with the Silicon Valley show it's crazy to think if the season is about crypto that the way they portray it will probably be pretty important. I don't think the audience of that show is going to be particularly ignorant on the topic, but media has a pretty strong influence on people's perception. Even when it's fictional.

I agree completely. Too often however, people use the whole sheep analogy, the flock goes where it goes. I think there's something to be said about mere exposure. I have pennies invested compared to most. But when I talk to most of my friends or the occasional acquaintance, there is a pretty staunch negative stigma about crypto. I'm in the US by the way. But the moment I explain to them that all money is essentially fake...requires trust from a group of individuals in order to become currency, their tone changes. I think if a few public faces, Hollywood types, athletes, not named Steven Segal, started saying something here and there, it would be positive.

FYI: ERC20 tokens will float on GDAX first. If it passes their new asset framework and liquidity test, then it will go on Coinbase. Pretty sure they are going with ERC20 to standardize things. Plus, there's a recovery function within ERC20. They are probably sick of their support staff getting clogged up with people complaining that they sent tokens to wrong addresses. Think they need to worry about Binance not COSS. A lot of people don't know that Binance is heavily backed Sequoia Capital ($300+ million).

Can you elaborate more about Binance?

What do you want to know? They are backed by the worlds greatest VC. They have the most talented technical team in the space. They make a ton of money. They provide great support. Once they delist a bunch of tokens which they are doing, they may come to America and crush coinbase. If they want to raise more VC funding all they need to do is snap their fingers. I’m sure they have a list who are begging to get in on their next institutional round.

To little to late in my opinion.

With Ethos wallet due to be released very soon, I think coin base will lose a lot of customers.

Also with the news from Binnance I think they are trying to grab some headlines back.

Interesting to see how it all plays out with coinbase but I dont see it happening for a while.

Adding ERC20 support complicates things as the US seems these to be securities yet most are not offered like this. It may force coinbase down the route of more regulation etc!

Thanks for sharing this news!

This is a workaround. It does not mean any other cryptos are coming to Coinbase anytime soon. They don't want to deal with adding crypto assets to their platform and then being ordered to remove them if regulators deem certain tokens to be securities. Once clear-cut rules are defined and established as to what is considered a 'security' and what is not... then CB will start adding actual tokens to the platform for trading. CB is not a licensed broker yet. They are probably working on this now so they can trade securities.

Great point of view. I think if they gonna choose ERC20 it might be EOS ... and if they will surprise us they will add a Not erc20 like IOTA. The hidden part of Iceberg of those people is not straight to or easy to expect.

If I were a gambling man, and I am...based on their 'new asset framework' I'd bet '0x' will be the first to hit GDAX. We all know the market has been blood red today and it's not a coincidence that 0x has been hitting massive vol and green numbers in a sea of red all day. This is what you call crypto insider trading.

Hmm good point ✊

Been slinging crypto since before coinbase. If you watch coinbase and how they conduct business they do not have a right grip on their staff. I guess this is the nature of anonymous funding. While I do use them when I need to, I do not trust Coinbase whatsoever. I also don't think them adding new assets will cause certain coins to spike greatly because they will likely not pair ERC20 Tokens to USD. They will pair to ETH. So they aren't removing a major step. It's more like they are creating a sub-step. In short, a safe bet would be to stock up on some ETH because it's going to see a lot of trading, massive vol and a major increase in market cap once this goes down 9-12 months from now.

I have always wondered about all those airdrops to people's ETH tied up in coinbase...i wonder if they will pass them on to eth holders?

For future viewers: price of bitcoin at the moment of posting is 7857.30USD

Does this mean they support mainly on Ethereum? How I wish Binance would support Steem token , too.
