Will Ethereum survive ICOs ?

in #ethereum7 years ago

It is seen during the last month that Bitcoin and Ethereum skyrocketed and got a lot of attention of individuals as well as companies. While Ethereum seems to be catching up with its early stage rival, Bitcoin, on the other hand, is also trying to catch up where it left off before 2 - 3 weeks. In my opinion, it all is fueled by the ransomware event which hit the world by storm on May 12th, 2017.

Having said that, we are now seeing new players in the market that are coming up with the new ideas and startups with their own cryptocurrencies mostly based on Ethereum blockchain due to that fact that Ethereum allows writing smart contracts in order to create your own currency.

However, yesterday saw an incident which clogged the ETH network caused by "Status" https://status.im/ crowd sale that deeply moved the world to rush and invest in this new offering. This I think has raised a red flag on the performance of Ethereum blockchain which needs to be fixed as soon as possible or otherwise I am afraid that Ethereum in near future would reach to the point where another hard fork would become inevitable. What do you think?

Guys, please share your thoughts on this as to what would be the future of this programmable blockchain as I, myself, have already jumped into learning Smart contract development based on Ethereum and solidity.

Thanks. !

ETH is still relatively young. Thus, it's bound to have a few hiccups.

I'm long on it due to the smart contract element; I think the crappy ICOs launched on it will weed themselves out, but won't damage the core platform.

My two cents. Following you now...
