Plato Release — a Social Platform for Book Readers

Empower book readers and increase the flow of knowledge

Gilgamesh is a groundbreaking knowledge-sharing social network powered by
the Ethereum blockchain and IPFS technologies.

As we approach the first release of the Gilgamesh social app Plato, the first build of the Gilgamesh Platform, will be available through a limited release in early 2018. The app will at first be available by **selected group of authors and readers **as we take feedback and work through user-identified obstacles. Plato will be refined over the first part of 2018, and users can
expect the full release later that year.

What does Gilgamesh offer to book readers?

Gilgamesh is meant to be a community-building platform that promotes self-expression among people who love literature. Each Gilgamesh user will have a unique User Profile. The Profile will include several features in the Plato build, including:

A timeline showing user interaction history
An option for users to “add” books they have read or are interested in
reading
An ability to “Like” books users have read
A way to find new things to read by exploring other user’s profiles and
adding bookmarks to media they want to share on their timeline.

Empowers Reader-to-Reader Interaction

Gilgamesh’s initial Plato release will also enable readers to share
insights, content and knowledge about the books they love. Gilgamesh
users can:

Generate and share content by wiring reviews, writing book summaries, and etc.
“Follow” other users’ Profiles to keep up with interesting content from
their friends in the community.
**“Comment” **on friends activities.

The platform rewards individuals for engaging with other users, writing book
reviews, and building content within the platform by awarding the GIL tokens.

We are also developing a unique algorithm that dictates when and in what amount
users will be rewarded with “GIL tokens”, also tokens are awarded on a
proportional basis to users with the most popular content.

Governance & GIL Token

Creating a democratic, and self-governance platform is aligned with our core
values.

The Platform will reward activities such as **flagging inappropriate content
**which will result in **self-governance **of the platform.

Users will also be able to use their GIL tokens to make in-app purchases or to
vote on the future of the platform.

What’s after Plato?

Plato, the initial release of the Gilgamesh Platform, will offer functionalities that creates a platform for “self-expression” and the “sharing” of user-generated content.

Gilgamesh is expected to expand rapidly to offer greater opportunities for meaningful user participation.

The next build, the Shakespeare release, will be even more interactive, and we are currently engaging the user community through our democratic Voting DApp to determine new features.

This feature allows GIL token holders to propose and vote on their
designed feature or proposal to be implemented on the Gilgamesh Platform.

The Voting DApp uses **smart contracts **on the Ethereum network to execute votes in a model that is inspired by those developed by CarbonVote and district0x, and you can read more about it here.

Gilgamesh users can vote on a number of options for the Shakespeare build,
including:

Instant messaging
The opportunity to read a preview of a book
The ability to post on other users’ timelines
User-generated book summaries
Online discussion groups
Arranging books into collections that other users can follow

Gilgamesh is working to transform the way writers and readers interact online
with the ultimate goal of disrupting the traditional publishing industry.

In order to do this, we need users to participate. As we continue to develop
the technology that will allow Gilgamesh users to share literary knowledge and
content in an increasingly interconnected way, we hope that readers and writers
everywhere are getting more and more excited about this new interactive online
community.
