Breaking News: Ethereum founder Vitalik meets Russian President Putin

in #ethereum7 years ago

This will be the huge news for the entire cryptocurrency community. This is definitely  the highest official meeting for the Ethereum team.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum(SPIEF)is an annual Russian business event for the economic sector, a leading world platform for communication of a business community and discussion of key economic problems which has been held in St. Petersburg since 1997. The SPIEF 2017 is currently happening from June 1-3 2017. Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has participated in this and spoke about the possibility of use of these blockchain based  technologies in the Russian Federation. After communication with heads of the largest corporations  in a Private meeting with CEOs the president has got acquainted and has briefly communicated to the founder of Ethereum,  Vitalik Buterin.

This is the video of the panel discussion  titled in which Vitalik spoke " The explosive impact of Blockchain technology" . The discussion are in Russian of course.

This gives credibility to the Ethereum platform as the Russian president himself has inquired about it. Recently the Russian currency has been devalued a lot due to the sanctions imposed by the West and there was  a lot of capital outflow from Russia. The stance of Russia regarding legality of cryptocurrency is in grey and  it is widely believed that Russia could legalize cryptocoins by 2018.

In the event that Russia adopts Ethereum then they must purchase ether from the funds of Government treasury to ensure smooth functioning of blockchain based government technologies. If Russia does that, then this will pave way for other countries to do the same and in this situation there will arise a race to acquire ether and other cryptocurrency, much as states now purchase the reserve currency of the world, and Gold.  If that is to happen then we can see the price of ether in the territory of 25000 US $ per ether. But these are wild speculation, but given the hardwork , innovation that Ethereum community puts into the project and the dedication of Vitalik, it is very well a thing that could happen. If it is not Ethereum, then what else?

While I appreciate the excitement about the potential for a price increase in Ethereum, I do not think that should be the overriding factor. I believe Putin's interest in Ethereum is bad for Ethereum and cryptocurrency in Russia in general. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@infinite-monkey/putin-s-interest-in-ethereum-and-crypto-should-be-cause-for-alarm-not-excitement
