Raiden is what will allow the Ethereum network to scale,
to a capacity that will provide GLOBAL functionality and use.
Because of Raiden's scalability, along with being able to host the payment systems of our world ( 2 Trillion Annually ), it will support of the Internet of Things, machine to machine transactions and micropayments.
With well over 100,000 transactions per second, Raiden will give Ethereum the massive edge in being the primary Smart Contract provider of our world.
