yes, you need ether because it is the ethereum blockchain, and everything on ethereum blockchain requires a transaction fee, I guess if you beat the high score you win the pot, but just playing is fun enough, and worth the paying a few cents ether to play
Oh I thought winning would just deduct the transaction fee. But I think I get it now, every play causes a transaction fee. Ah well I have no ether.
Interesting, never knew you had to download MetaMask, a sort of Blockchain Browser. It's not even a browser but a Chrome & Firefox Extention! Quite Cool!
