Spankchain hacking: the hacker made 165.38 ETH!

Some time after the famous case of Ethereum and BOOTY tokens stolen from the adult platform Spankchain , the latter has just experienced a reversal of the situation when the thief decided to return the funds. The latter reportedly telephoned SpankChain's CEO, Ameen Soleimani, to give him the private key of the wallet containing the stolen ETHs. This same pirate also allowed Spankchain to find 4,000 BOOTY tokens subtilized.As a reward, the platform offered him $ 5,000 and 5.5 ETH.

Update on our recent hack: @ameensolspoke with the attacker on the phone, and they feel the key with all the funds. We feel them back $ 5,000 as a reward along with the 5.5 ETH they used as seed capital for the attack.

An isolated case on dozens of flights

If the activity of cybercriminals is mainly focused on crypto-grants and unprotected platforms, it is for the simple reason that there is no effective way to trace funds stolen. Also, when SpankChain had been hacked because of a breach of his smart contract , the crypto-platform managers had given up hope of return, especially since they did not engage a professional internal audit.

However, the miracle occurred when the thief manifested himself via a phone call to make funds in ETH, while helping the platform to recover the immobilized 4000 BOOTY. Spankchain did not disclose the identity of the hacker, but mentioned that as a reward he received $ 5,000 and 5.5 ETH, knowing that the loss of ETHs cost clients $ 9,300 out of ETH (worth € 28,875 s) that Spankchain promised to repay.

Spankchain was saved by the situation

In his original tweet, Spank sent a message of thanks to the hacker stating:

"Congratulations, anonymous haxor! "

Like what, a story that ends well always puts actors in connivance.

It is quite unlikely to see a hacker change his mind and return the funds he stole.

This will motivate SpankChain to repay customers' digital assets and review its security system. The question to ask also relates to the transparency of these facts, would we be wrong to think of a role play on the part of SpankChain? A pub shot? The question remains open.
