BUILDING BRIDGES

in #esteemapp7 years ago (edited)

A friend of mine asked me for a favor today ,to help him out with some space. He has outgrown his current business premises forcing him to turn away business. This you can never do and it stinks of bad planning. He needs a stop gap for the next 2 months.I had a go at him this morning as I saw his orders that are arriving.I could see immediately it didn't add up to the space he had available. He is probably out by a good 2000 square meters

The funny thing is I have no space for him either, but called a friend of mine using up a favor for him. This is like a chain of favors now that we never use so I am wandering where it will cost me now. A favor is never for free and I can see a pound of flesh coming somewhere at my expense.

Networking and keeping good contacts close as one just never knows has always made common sense to me.Everywhere I go I see an opportunity to meet someone and build another contact. It doesn't matter what industry they are from as paths sometimes cross when you never expect it.

Four years ago I was on a flight to the States and I was sitting next to a gentleman tapping away on his laptop for hours. I was intrigued and it turned out to be someone who I would be using as a close business contact ever since. We talk weekly and are now one of his biggest clients. I don't know if it is fate or chance, but most people would probably ignore others around them and never know.

I think we all have opportunities in life ,but most of us squander them somehow.I have learnt to always look for opportunities and positives in any situation. This was never the case until my back injury. I think it taught me to be positive and look at things differently. Sometimes good comes from bad and that is me spinning positives again. Stop Waffling and this was a much longer post than planned.

Man, we are so alike. If you ever come to the states again I would travel to meet you!

Luckily you are in a decent part of the world so most definitely will be in your neck of the woods at some point. Would love to meet up. It is weird how some people are so different and then the occasional one or two just click.

Well, I am a seclude. I don't know, people naturally gravitate towards me. I'm not what you might consider a great friend because I love my space and find it difficult sharing with others. However, it is important to build relationships wherever you go, and I try to loosen up sometimes.

Also, the internet has made it easier as you can connect with different people across the world and find new opportunities.

This is probably the case. The more I experience poor outcomes with relationships, the harder it becomes for me to make new connections.

It's like, every bad relationship, or partnership endeavor leaves me with this feeling like someone bit off a piece of me that I can't get back.

I'm an introvert by nature, but I still desire to make positive connections, and I also find it to be a common sense frame of thinking. Without connections, success becomes difficult, probably even an impossibility.

Nice post man.

Howdy sir cryptoandcoffee! very good advice to make associates from all fields because you never know when you could run into them again and do business or they may quit their job and go into another field that would intersect with yours.
