The Terrible Threat Behind the Penis Whitening Trends in Thailand

A number of plastic surgeons expressed concern about the trend of whitening of the penis in Thailand. They call that the procedure has no clear benefits and poses many risks.

Procedures to whiten the penis that requires laser and acid or chemical substances, can make men's genitals burns or even blacken the penis in the future.

"I think it should not be done to patients who do not need it," said plastic surgeon Massimiliano Brambilla, as quoted by Asia One, Monday (5/2/2018).

"Most of the ingredients used to whiten are very aggressive, whitening skin is one of the things I do carefully," he added.

Genital bleaching is not included in ISAPS data. However, experts in the industry say that demand for genital bleaching is increasing.

"I think it's related to the pornographization of society," said plastic surgeon from Lyon, France, Fabien Boucher.

"Beautify the genitals in my view is not realistic," he added.

Boucher says that today people tend to want to manipulate their genitals to look like their immature genitals - lacking genital hair, smooth skin, and bright colors.

Whereas according to Boucher, is a normal thing if the genitals are darker than the color of skin on the other side.
