I have been just once inside ( not the trip showing now ) the Statue of Liberty, climbed the stairs all the way up to the crown. It is extremely hard to get tickets unless you apply online 3-4 months in advance. As for the pics it's not a problem, but honestly I dont remember if we were scanned at the entrance by security staff, most likely we were.
