I've never understood critics who claim that art is useless. In my understanding of it, art saves lives and our sanity. When the world, outer or inner, is spiraling out of control there is art to calm, center and inspire us, reminding us what is indestructible. The images in this post, for example are a fine example of the artist as mystic, Mahmoud Farshchian of Iran, who in Beyond Earthly Love evokes what words cannot: the elusive realm of the Spirit:

English art critic, Walter Pater famously pronounced, all art constantly aspires to the condition of music -- a sentiment that I, as writer, find that I cannot disagree with since music expresses, articulately and eloquently, what words cannot.

Thanks, to a fellow Steemian, I recently made a valuable musical discovery, in the form of contemporary German composer, Max Richter. Richter's serene, ambient compositions are dreamy, literally, as evidenced by his recent piece, Sleep which the composer actually performed to a sleeping, incorporating the rain and thunder that night into the overall experience.

So, if you're looking to daydream, recharge meditate, I invite you to listen to this soothing piece and further explore the intriguing composer's contemplative work and the liminal spaces it accesses.

A lovely and haunting piece with subtle complexities. Thanks for sharing, Yahia. The composer had some interesting things to say about sleep too:)

Yeah, he’s a thoughtful fellow & haunting is a good description of the piece. Glad you enjoyed this short excerpt 🤓

Thank you for the discovery of this art and music. Following.

Welcome aboard :) I hope my posts will continue to keep you good company.

I will sure give this a try!

Happy listening & discoveries!
