Myanmar Traditional Novitiation Ceremony Part(4)
Lord Buddha initiated His own son Yahula without elaboration into His order.
The essentials for novitiation are:
- The would-be novice is necessary to wear his robe neatly.
- The would-be novice is necessary to pronounce the teachings rightly.
- The novice is necessary to abide by the rules of conduct.
One, who has the above said essentials, can be novitiated. Generally, when a boy passes his primary level, it is the most appropriate time to be novitiated. Now-a-days, novitiation ceremonies are usually held during summer vacation. One can be novitiated many times. It is not a matter of once in a life time, one can become novice before getting married. Having novitiated, one can fully developed both in mind and matter.
