Let There Be Lights for Terian

Great news from our team this morning, Terian Micro Hydro, Sabah, Borneo is now back in operations after two years shutdown. This system was out of operation due to its forebay tank and penstock section being destroyed and damaged by landslide.

Tonibung have diligently seeking from funders who're willing to fund the restoration of this system. In August 2017, after submiting paperwork to Seacology Foundation, Tonibung managed to secure fund for the restoration of the system.

The community then have been trying to organise 'gotong-royong' to complete the restoration. However due to the unpredictable rainy weather conditions, the project has been behind schedule. Tonibung as the main community organiser took the responsibility to send our team to finish up task on time before the dateline in August 2018.

Our team together with the community managed to complete the upgrading works. It took more than six months to complete this upgrading works facing many challenges including technical difficulties
and logistics, but with teamworks and expertise from Tonibung team, it become yet another one of Tonibung success story in providing lights to the underprivilaged community.

That light you see in the video is from the turbine itself. Its the water from the river to the turbine and bammm...lights on! This my friend is what we called Renewable Green Energy.
