Happy 1. March everyone! - Traditions in Bulgaria
Happy 1. March everyone ! Today we celebrate the coming of the spring (Finaly ! Im tired of this white and cold weather :D )
Today we also celebrate in Bulgaria "Baba Marta"(Translate is Grandmother March)
We call this things "martenici". On this day we give one of them to all of our friends and familly for health and luck and we hold them on our hands or clothes until we see a flying stork. After that we hang one of our "martenica" on a tree for fruitfulness.
I wish to all of the steemians here to be healthy to have a lot of luck in the new month and Steem on !

Yes ! There are a lot of types with a lot of different things on them. Also so many people dont buy them and make them home handmade, which makes it even more special :)

In Greece we wear the 'Martitsa' too, as a bracelet in March. :D

What a nice tradition! I never heard of! In Austria we have only a saying for fun. 1st of April is a traditional day to make some pranks, and 1st of March is mentioned in this saying but there are no actions. So if a person would say, „Am erstn März bringt da Esel a Schüssele Sterz, aba am 1. April macht da Esel, was er will!“ this is just like an announcement, that there will be 1st of April in one month and the usual reaction would be: „Oh, we write the 1st of March already?“ I know this from Carinthia and do not know whether it is known anywhere else.
We have the 1. April in Bulgaria also as a prank day :))
Seems to be international. Beware of 1st of April pranks on Steemit... ;) (Thinking... ha ha).
