The hottest geyser in Europe. Bulgaria

in #esteem6 years ago (edited)

In Bulgaria, on the balneological resort Sapareva Banya, there is a unique natural phenomenon: a hot geyser. Its temperature is 103°C. It is one of the hottest geysers in the world and the only one not only in Bulgaria, but also in the entire continental Europe.

In the evening, the multi-colored illumination turns on. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture all the beauty, turbulent waters in the sky and rainbow splashes - my camera was stunned by such magnificence. In winter, when a cold part of the fountain turns into an icy rock from which water is beating, and above all this is a huge cloud of steam. The hot fountain in the Sapareva bath, even the most "violent" it pulses every 5-6 seconds, the height of the water column is 18 meters, and the depth of the shell is 75.
This geyser was opened and equipped in 1957 - its debit 18 l / sec. Its water is not just hot - it's mineral, hence curative.
Unfortunately, at the moment the operation of the geyser is supported by a special pump, because there was an unsuccessful repair. Sculpture on the fountain - the work of the Bulgarian sculptor Valco Tsenov.

It is said that the locals still use this hot water, in order to boil potatoes and eggs. And this water is used to heat local public organizations, like kemetstvo, kindergarten and school. In Sapareva Banya there are many sanatoriums, spa hotels and balneocenter in which you can not only bask in this water, but also treat various diseases, because the healing power of this water is known for about 6000 years! True, with the ancient inhabitants this place was called Kremenik, and then Germaneja on behalf of the river flowing here, German.

The resort town of Sapareva banya is located in Western Bulgaria in the Kyustendil region, just 75 km from Sofia and is a regional center - in Bulgarian community. This mountain settlement (Rila Mountain) - altitude above sea level of 983 meters - here is a unique medical climate and wonderful panoramas. The town is low-rise and is populated mainly by tourists, the local population is no more than 4,000 people.

Water Park Aqua Club Kotvata is a complex of several cold and hot mineral pools, a jacuzzi, changing rooms, a children's playground, an open-air restaurant with a view of the mountains and a winter version under the roof with saunas and Roman baths, indoor pools and beauty parlors.
In the pools there are hydromassages for relaxation, waterfalls and hydromassage beds. Hot mineral pools + 40С, and next there is an ice font. Aqua Club Kotvata accommodates 200 visitors at a time, but usually there are so many people there, because it works all year round from 7 am to 8 pm.

In the pools of the Aqua Club Kotvata mineral water, which treats the disease:

 musculoskeletal system,
 diseases of joints,
 rheumatism,
 arthritis,
 Bechterew's disease,
 myositis,
 tenosynovitis
 and so on.

Water in Sapareva Bath is a slightly mineralized, sulfate-carbonate, sodium, sulphide-salicylic, it is colorless with a strong smell of hydrogen sulfide.

We really like it, because here it is clean, nice, cozy and very accessible (5 euro adult ticket) - for such service and beauty it is a good price even for Bulgaria.

Thank you for your time and attention.
