When the Green Needs Salt

Medium-sized butterfly, with wingspread (about 6 cm), with uniform color of whole body, greenish. Found on the edge of a small, rocky, time-sucking liquid of salt from the ground. Interestingly, they clustered, and had a fixed place for this salt-seeking activity. Sometimes, among their groups, there are also butterflies from other species.

When approached, they will fly scattered, spreading and perched on the nearest leaves, while waiting. A few moments later, they will gradually return to where they once were. The greenish color, contrasting with the layers of rock or litter where they gather.

Photographs were taken in Parepare (South Sulawesi), on October 18, 2009. At this time, it can be said that the peak of the dry season, so that times or rivers are mostly not watery or just a seepage. This "salt-scavenger" butterfly group can only be found at certain times.
