This taro is a kind of tubers from the Araceae tribe (taro) has a scientific name Colocasia esculenta Linn originating from Southeast Asian countries with upright morphological classification, pseudo cylindrical, and single-type leaves with tapered flat edges, flower crowns oval and white.
In some countries these taro plants have different names, such as: Keladi (Malaya), Abalong (Philippines), Arvi (India), Satoimo (Japan), Yutao (China), Tayoba (Spain) and Taioba (Brazil).

In Indonesia alone this taro or taro plant can be found in almost all of the archipelago provinces and even spread from the shore and up to the mountains above 1000 meters above sea level, both cultivated and grow wild in the wild. These taro plants are generally nutritional conditions for human growth (carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vitamins) are also of high economic value, because almost all parts of this taro plant can be used for consumption ranging from parts such as; the tuber, midrib and taro leaves are used as processed food, animal feed, fish feed and food packaging.
