How to differentiate thyroid swelling from thyroglossal cyst swelling
On inspection,both thyroid and thyroglossal cyst swelling look alike and both move upwarda on deglutition. Thyroid swelling is differentiated from thyroglossal cyst by telling patient to protrude his/her tongue.on protrusion, thyroid swelling won't move upwards but thyroglossal cyst move upwards because it come from foramin caecum of tongue.so it moves on protrusion...
U can test yourself if u have any swelling in your neck....
