My ArtVenture: Impressionism style painting "Basic Instrinct: chair scene"
Hello dear Steemians,
While looking through the our collection of old Videotapes and DVD's I found a movie that became a real Scandal in 90's. That is why I could not not to do a painting about it.
"Basic Instinct" is the movie produced by Paul Verhoeven in 1992 with Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas in main roles. That is an erotic thriller, where a rock star is brutally murdered and investigation led by police detective played by M. Douglas and Sharon Stone acts as a book writer had relationship with killed rock star.
Everything sound normal crime movie and actually I can't really remember well the whole movie and who killed and why. But the only scene appears in my mind when these two wards Basic Instinct is the famous Interview of Sharon in her snow white short dress on the chair with crossed over legs.
The film became bestseller, one of the most financially successful films of the 1990s, grossing $352 million worldwide, since that movie there were many other similar in different countries and the scene was used for video songs, clips and just fun clips as well as the continuation of "Basic Instinct 2" was produced in 2006, but I have never watched it.
My painting I decided to so in Impressionism style and would like to share a little information about the style too.
In the mid-1800s, it was commonly accepted that "serious" artists blended their colors and minimized the appearance of brushstrokes to produce the "licked" surface preferred by the academic masters.
commas, smears, and blobs.
As everything new it was not easy start and those artist been blamed to be not skilled, who have been rushed to sell their work without finishing their art.
But once born it was there and one of the first Impressionist was Claude Monet's his Sunrise (1873) was the first to inspire the critical nickname "Impressionism" in early reviews.
Impressionism is the way to express your emotions without thinking much about the fine straight lines and corners, just let it out.
In my opinion, when you see such paintings the human brain tent itself to creative a picture in your brain even if it is just the early stage of painting.
Something missing in that painting (if you know what I mean).
I knew that painting will bring up a lot of questions, thought/ comments and that was my intention. Thank you for viewing @drakos :)

I have never watched this movie, but I know this pose, which is very famous. Her legs are drawn very beautifully!
t is a nice movie, if you would have a time or would like to watch nice crime thriller with beautiful artists and scenes it worth to do it. Thank you for your compliment :)
You presented the film well and you had a great idea to paint the famous scene with Sharon Tate. I love impressionism!
You really captured her body language well <3 The way she reclined against the chair is nicely presented, and her legs are so beautiful~
You have captured the iconic pose of Sharon Stone superbly, @stef1 . You are awesome. Love the glamorous arrogance and disdain in the body posture !!
Thank you Neha, always wanted to do that painting and this time decided :) That is really incredible that sometimes a certain moments, things or posture become iconic and eternal, so it was with Sharon and this scene :)
