Arabica coffee

Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) is thought to be first classified by a Swedish scientist named Carl Linnaeus (Carl von Linné) in 1753. This type of coffee has a caffeine content of 0.8-1.4% originally from Brazil and Ethiopia. Arabica or Coffea arabica is the first coffee species found and cultivated by humans until now.

Arabica coffee grows in areas at an altitude of 700-1700 m above sea level with temperatures of 16-20 ° C, dry climate three months in a row. The type of arabica coffee is very susceptible to attack by Hemileia vastatrix (HV) leaf rust, especially when planted in areas with an elevation of less than 700 m, so that in terms of maintenance and cultivation of arabica coffee it needs more attention than Robusta coffee or other types of coffee.

Arabica coffee currently controls most of the world coffee market and the price is much higher than other types of coffee. In Indonesia we can find most of the Arabica coffee plantations in the Toraja Mountain region, North Sumatra, Aceh and in some areas on the island of Java. Some arabica coffee varieties are currently being developed in Indonesia, including Abesinia arabica coffee, Pasumah, Marago, Typica and Congensis arabica coffee.
