Hué; City of Citadels part three

Here we go for the thirt and last time. To Hué that is though, as I have since traveled on towards a new place about which I will tell you in my next posts! Let’s see, last time we left off right after I had entered the huge market. Afterwards this happened;

I had finally reached the citadel haha. To be found in the middle of town this former palace nowadays contains three museums which I would all visit during the rest of the afternoon. First up the American war material museum;

As many of you know the American troops pulled out of Vietnam in quite a hurry. This meant that every now and again the Vietnamese troops were able to capture lots of materials like guns, tanks, and sometimes even aeroplanes. In the lot found in the citadels there were several pieces of artillery, some tanks, some helicopters and some planes.

Second up was the French museum. This whole museum was about the French when they were ruling the country. Not very interesting to me personally though haha. Just some old drawings off the time period which were interesting.

Finally the museum about the champa kingdom. This kingdom dissolved after several wars with the Vietnamese. The guy on the picture is the king from champa which married a princess of Vietnam and gave here Hué and some other cities and land. Thing is, he died shortly thereafter. And in fashion expected his concubines and brides (yes,plural) to burn themselves. The princess wouldn’t have it. This led to a war which ended the kingdom.
