WISHES.
When Mists of crushing challenges
Come around you to becloud the sky,
And none of hope in the distance,
May wisdom and courage guide you.
When misfortune looms large,
With hounds sprawling everywhere,
And woes wickedly surrounding,
May angels of heaven protect you.
When marauding foes assail,
Trusted friendship enviously stabs,
With nobody coming to your defence,
May nature and fortune shield you.
When tyranny climbs the mast,
Sinking you to the sea bottom,
With none to bring you afloat,
May Providence come to your rescue.
When illness becomes your guest,
Beating leprosy to a second position
And making sorrow your permanent guest,
May God's grace over flow on you.
When Envy beclouds the sky,
And loneliness denies you a companion,
May Ease and love inter-twine,
To save you today and always. (Amen).
