Who is Jose Ortega y Gasset? (May 9, 1883 - October 18, 1955)
Spanish philosopher born in Madrid.
Studied in Madrid and German universities. In 1910 he returned to the city he was born in (Madrid) and became a professor of metaphysics. It was an important name in the revival of culture and literature in Spain by producing various magazines. La Revista de Occidente is the most famous of these magazines. Gasset, who left Spain after a civil war, lived first in France and then in Argentina.
He died in Madrid in 1955. According to Camus, this Spanish philosopher would like to pay attention to "perhaps the greatest European writer after Nietzsche".
Culturally and politically conservative, Gasset, like other existential thinkers, says that when man comes to terms, he comes before the essence of existence. According to him, the stone has been given an existence, it does not have to fight for it, struggle for it; whereas, man, being in it, recreating it, determining its essence.

It's an aficionado. It tends to be an intellectual torero. As a philosopher, there are so many connections to life. That is why it is always criticized. But he always talks instead of silence and philosophy. On everything: Love, women, Spain, Anne de Noailles' poem, Roman Empire, population explosion and what else.
A deportee, but a Spanish about the country's past, today and tomorrow with sincerity: a world person who feels himself at home in Europe. Because Gasset, a lover, a concert viewer, a bullfighting guru, a magazine reader at the same time.
His works include: Adán el parasío (1910: Adem Cennette), Meditaciones del Quijote (1914), El tema de nuestro tiempo (1923: Our Calligraphy), España invertebrada (1922: Inverted Spain), La Rebelión de las masas (1929: The Standing of the Masses).
