Coconut Cultivation

Coconut trees can grow optimally if planted in an area located at an altitude of about 400-450 m above sea level. Growth of this plant will slow down if kept in an area of altitude between 500-1000 m above sea level. Coconut trees also require land with a flat surface so that on sloped land should be made a terrace often to maintain soil fertility, improve soil conditions, and prevent the occurrence of soil damage.
Coconut trees will grow well in areas with rainfall ranging from 1200-2200 mm / year. Coconuts are also very fond of sunlight with a minimum requirement of 124 hours / month. The growth of this plant will reach the maximum point at temperatures in the range of 20-25 degrees celsius. Meanwhile, if kept at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius, coconut trees will experience a change in physiological it has.
Coconut plants are able to survive in various types of soil such as clay, rocky soil, sandy soil, alluvial soil, volcanic soil, or laterite soil. The best soil acidity to support growth is around 5.5-7.5. Coconut trees need also sufficient water availability throughout their lifetime.
