Espanyol vs Villarreal 19 February 2018 - Villarreal are looking in pretty good shape now under Fran Escribá after a very unconvincing start. They seem to be back to being a team that can compete for the top 4 finish as last season.

As for Espanyol, who is also under new management with coach Quique Sánchez Flores, the team has not received satisfactory results. Their home game is pretty bad with just 1 point from 3 games at the RCDE Stadium so far. they have done quite well in the away games and have scored a few away goals which is an encouraging sign but their 2-0 win over Osasuna's caretaker is the team's only victory under former Watford boss. with 5 points now Catalan club is only in 17th position of the standings
