Review - What If - TV Series
On the mobile app for Netflix, there is a section "Coming soon" which as the name suggests shows the list of shows that are soon to be available on Netflix for streaming. For that matter, Netflix probably is the only streaming service provider that has a huge array of original shows that premiers on the site. It was here in the "Coming Soon" section that I first saw the trailer for What If.
Renee Zellweger was a highlight of course but the trailer in itself was quite captivating, which made me include this title under the "Remind Me" option, which basically sends out a notification to you when the show is available for streaming on the site.
Lisa Donovan is a scientist/entrepreneur who is on the verge of a major breakthrough with her company Emigen, but due to lack of funding and all the investors shooting down on the proposal to invest, is about to fall apart when a billionaire venture capitalist, Anne Montgomery(Zellweger), offers to rope in $80 million dollars into the company on one condition, Lisa's husband, Sean needs to spend one night with Anne, with Sean not being allowed to talk about what happens on this night.
There might have been people who did not enjoy the show, but for me, the first few episodes, say until the fourth episode was quite interesting. These episodes seemed to have the ability to glue you down on the couch and not have you get up from there or switch to another series. It pretty much breaks down from there and with the final twist being a little over the top and hard to believe.
The series ends with a promise of a new season, or so I think, but if anything the creators of the show have to learn, it is to keep S2 afloat throughout the entire set of episodes, unlike the S1 where they seemed to have lost in midway.
