Nature Photography Contest: Nature photography along the river, ธรรมชาติตามริมแม่น้ำโขง

This is my entry for nature photography contest for Thai community by @thaiteam. Nature along Mae Nam Khong River in Nongkhai consists of simply the river, blue sky, green fields and sunsets.

The view on the opposite side of the river, Laos, has many big trees along the river bank. So, the surrounding is very nice and pleasant. I just hope all these big trees will not be cut down and that the river will never become completely dry in the summer. The air is always light and fresh anytime of the year, though the summer months can be very hot.

ธรรมชาติริมแม่น้ำโขงที่หนองคาย เป็นธรรมชาติแบบเรียบง่ายและพื้นๆ ไม่มีอะไรน่าตื่นเต้นนัก มีแต่แม่นํ้าโขงที่เป็นพรมแดนระหว่างไทยกับลาว มีทุ่งและสวนผัก ป่าไผ่ตามริมแม่น้ำฝั่งไทย ทำให้ข้างทางดูมีสีเขียวตลอดทาง แต่ทางฝั่งลาวมีต้นไม้ขนาดใหญ่มากมาย และป่าไผ่หนาแน่น เราหวังว่าต้นไม้ยืนต้นขนาดใหญ่เหล่านี้คงไม่ถูกตัดไปขายเพื่อทำกำไร ธรรมชาติที่สวยเป็นพิเศษคือ ท้องฟ้าในวันที่แดดจัด และพระอาทิตย์ตกที่มีสีสดเต็มไปด้วยพลัง สภาพแวดล้อมยังมีความเป็นธรรมชาติ มีอากาศที่ดีมาก เราก็จะพยายามปลูกต้นไม้ในที่ของเราเพิ่มทุกปีเพื่อเพิ่มความร่มเย็น และความเขียวขจีให้มากขึ้น เราอยากทำให้ที่มุมหนึ่งกลายเป็นป่าเบญจพรรณให้นกมาแปลกๆมาทำรังด้วย

In the past, I often asked myself where I would choose to build a home outside Bangkok. Several years ago, I got an offer from an old friend with a nice plot of land close to the mountains in Chiengmai. She invited me to spend a week at her beautiful Thai style house. She had several rooms and a modern wing built close to the Thai wooden house. To my surprise, she made me an offer whether I would want to live there in the new section. I thought she was joking about the offer. She told me she would like me as her close friend to become her close neighbour. I had to meditate on that offer the whole week as I had no idea what was meant for my life path. There was no answer from my meditation sessions. So, I had to decline her kind offer. Oh! We are still very good friends and continue to meet up in Bangkok. Whenever she had vexing family problems she would ask for my opinions. I always tell her my honest thoughts which continued to be useful to her family’s happiness. So, I knew that living by big mountains in Chiengmai was not my destiny.

Once I got an offer from a company to work at one of its branches in a town by the sea. That was very tempting as I already rented a bungalow by the beach for the whole year for my weekend holidays. But somehow I did not accept the offer to the disappointment of the executive. So, I knew my option of having a house by the sea was not my destiny.

Then, one day other friends invited me to visit their family homes up in the mountains near the national park. It was just like living in the forest with private stream and not too far from a system of caves and waterfall. To my surprise, they offered me a plot of land there for free. I almost went to settle there as I had paid for the house’s design. Finally during my meditation, I discovered that I had to decline the offer. This has been a long journey finding out where to build my country house.

I know, ‘why my close friends wanted me to live on their land!’ I guess they know me very well and had been aided by my natural psychic ability. But I have to follow my destiny and listen to divine calling. The journey has already begun and I am still trying to pay more attention, especially in time of coming crisis.

เราเชื่อเรื่องชะตาชีวิตว่า ทุกคนมีเส้นทางชีวิตที่ถูกกำหนดมาแล้วในระดับหนึ่ง แต่การเดินทางของชีวิตก็ขึ้นอยู่กับการตัดสินใจของจิตใจแต่ละคน เราเคยคิดไม่ตกว่าเราควรจะสร้างบ้านนอกกรุงเทพฯที่ไหนดี ชีวิตก็มีวิธีการให้คำตอบเราเอง เพื่อนที่เชียงใหม่จะยกบ้านให้อยู่บ้าง เพื่อนที่มีที่บนภูเขายกที่ดินให้บ้าง เราก็ไม่สามารถรับข้อเสนอได้เลย แล้วก็มีเพื่อนทางใต้จะยกตึกแถวให้ห้องหนึ่งบ้าง เราก็รับของฟรีไม่ได้เลย นี่ถ้าผู้ใหญ่รู้ว่าเราเกือบจะได้ของฟรีชิ้นใหญ่หลายครั้ง เขาคงว่าเราโง่มากที่ไม่ยอมรับ ถ้ารู้ว่าเราปฏิเสธตำแหน่งที่มีอำนาจและเงินจำนวนมาก เราก็คงถูกว่าเราบ้าแน่นอน เราเชื่อเรื่องชะตาชีวิตของเรา ว่ามีจุดหมายที่ไม่เหมือนคนอื่นๆ ยิ่งตอนนี้ยิ่งต้องคอยฟังว่าเขาต้องการให้เราเดินไปทางไหน เพราะวิกฤตการในอนาคตจะมาแน่นอน เราก็หวังว่าทุกอย่างจะไม่สายเกินแก้ เราคงต้องสวดมนต์ภาวนาให้สม่ำเสมอมากขึ้น
